Privacy Policy

HikeIt Hawaii provides trail-planning information without requiring a user account on this website. Our server may receive standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, requested pages, and timestamps for security, reliability, and aggregate usage measurement.

Weather and trail information

Trail searches and filters are processed to provide the requested experience. Condition estimates combine public trail records and third-party weather or stream data. We do not sell trail searches or precise location information.

iOS and Android apps

The HikeIt Hawaii mobile apps are operated by Kilo Kai Solutions LLC. You can browse trails without entering a name, email address, or password. Alert settings use an automatically created anonymous Supabase account. We store its user ID, your notification token, selected alert radius, settings update time, and notification delivery records to save preferences and deliver alerts. These records are associated with the same account or app installation even though we do not ask for your name.

Google Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple Push Notification service support notifications. Firebase processes installation identifiers, notification tokens, device and app information, and SDK diagnostic metadata. Some non-identifying SDK information is used by Google to understand SDK adoption and maintain service quality. Supabase provides authentication and database services. Our hosting providers may process request and error logs, including network addresses, to operate and protect the service.

The current mobile release contains no advertisements, advertising tracking, or Google Analytics SDK. Its trail search and filters run on your device. It does not collect your GPS position or track your movement. Displayed trail coordinates and weather locations describe trails, not your location. Map display and external directions, permit, weather, and social links may involve Apple, Google, or other providers under their own privacy policies.

Mobile privacy choices and retention

You can turn notifications off in your device settings and change alert preferences within the app. Recent weather and trail summaries are cached on your device and expire from use after their freshness limits. Disabling notifications or removing the app does not itself delete server-side account, preference, or delivery records.

Server-side records support alert delivery, saved preferences, security, and troubleshooting; this release does not provide an automatic account-deletion screen or a fixed automatic deletion schedule for these records. To ask about your data or request deletion, email hikeithawaii@gmail.com. Because accounts are anonymous, we may need additional information to identify the relevant record. Information you voluntarily send in a support email is used to respond to your request.

Website analytics

With your permission, we use Google Analytics to understand aggregate website usage, including pages and trail details viewed, searches, filters, shares, outbound map or permit links, app-download links and social referrals. Google Analytics may use cookies or similar technologies. We do not intentionally send names, email addresses or precise trail-user locations to Analytics.

Website advertising

If advertising is enabled and you grant permission, Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to deliver, measure, and prevent fraud in advertisements. Advertising is kept separate from weather warnings, access restrictions, maps, driving directions and trail-condition estimates.

Third-party links

The site links to mapping, permitting, land-management, weather, analytics, advertising and other third-party services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.

Website privacy choices
